Myoko Kogen snow report Tuesday 16th February 2010

It is cloudy again this morning here in Akakura Onsen. Very light snow is falling with around 1cm accumulating in the village so far. Temperatures today are much colder – an expected maximum of -2 predicted for the village and a current temperature of -4 at Akakura Onsen ski area. There is a light northeasterly breeze which is expected to turn north-northwesterly in the afternoon and bring heavier snowfall with it. Predictions are for around 10cm down here and 15cm up the top by tomorrow morning. That should be followed by a cloudy Wednesday and a slightly warmer Thursday morning before moderate to heavy snow on Thursday night and Friday. So tomorrow and Saturday are shaping up to be good days on the hill, and in general the slopes will have well and truly recovered from last week’s rain by tomorrow.

New Snow (Resort): 2 cm

New Snow (Village): 1 cm

Weather: Light snow and cloudy conditions with a light northeasterly breeze. Heavier snow expected in the afternoon with colder temperatures.
