Customer Feedback

We were completely amazed by the warmth of the staff and quality of establishment when we discovered Hotel Mumon. They even dug us a snow cave as a honeymoon present, lined with candles and music. It was a great experience with some of the best snow, friendliest people and least crowded ski fields we’ve ever had in Japan. We’ll be back to Mumon next year and many years to come!

Hotel Mumon is the ideal base for exploring the Myoko Kogen region. The Arano family have been running the hotel and living in the village of Akakura Onsen for decades, and have lots of useful tips about the best restaurants, favorite sneaky powder runs and local delicacies to sample. The in-house Onsen is the perfect way to soak away the aches and pains from a day on the slopes, and the in house restaurant “Dorane” serves an amazing variety of delicious traditional Japanese and Western style meals – open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and very reasonably priced!
