Finally a wintery blast has come through and it is snowing very hard in Nozawa Onsen at the moment. Big fat flakes are falling from top to bottom – it has been far too long since we have seen snow like this. Due to snow falling on very wet slopes low down on the mountain, fresh snow has only just started to settle this morning. Up the top there is plenty of new stuff, but very poor visibility.
The snow we have seen in the last 12 hours has been wonderful for the mountain. Hopefully we can see it continue for the rest of the day. There are 2 more decent falls forecast for the next week (Monday night and Friday), if this comes through we can happily welcome a return to winter in Nozawa as we know it.
